Preparation for Something Greater

"Do I look alright? Formality was never my strong point."

There's some conflicting things I had while trying to put together this picture. It was really just supposed to be an impulse drawing for the Branded King design that Chrom got in Heroes fairly recently (which still have yet to get, and thought this may help my luck...!!), but I had trouble going all the way with this one.

Aside from my trivial stressing out over not getting the next addition to my Chrom Army, I had been trying to focus much on schoolwork and the term paper I finished already (hooray!), that whenever I try to draw, I just haven't been able to focus properly. It's pretty awful since I really want to be able to feel and grasp my drawings in order to properly convey the ideas I hope to execute. However, because of the former reasons, I could hardly even find myself a decent title when uploading.

I guess it's just with graduation coming very soon, I have been feeling real "guilty" whenever I draw, as if I should be using my spare time doing something else like curing cancer or whatnot. With those plans for the future, I get worried about what I should do next, and if I'm capable of pulling through with them.

It was then that I realized, rather than making some huge-awesome shot with Chrom's new look here, I ended up making something rather conflicted.

I know that, while it's easily glossed over due to Awakening's writing being heavily focused elsewhere, Chrom always had this inner struggle of the day when he'd have to take over the throne and hold the grand responsibility of taking care of an entire kingdom. The worries and burdens that came with that made him question whether he was fit for the role, but the obligations continued to draw closer-n-closer, especially with the case of Emmeryn's leaving.

While this variant of Chrom actually carries a humorous tone to it, the fact that it's so pretty and mature-looking that it made me think of it as one more step to growing up.
It also looked like something Chrom would wear to a very important event, it has a very similar scheme to his Class Up, too.

So this little simple-shot of Chrom thinking to himself about his own self confidence may have just been another means to projection from myself.
Maybe, who knows? Maybe I just wanted to prove Chrom can be a decent character if you just worked those bits that are often overlooked in patchwork writing.

P.S.: May I please have this Chrom now? Heroes has given me too many Pity Breaks, I am slowly losing my mind.

[EDIT]: Right-right, I also forgot to mention I forgot to draw that extra belt at Chrom's waist. But I overlooked it 100% and am not going to bother, oopsies.
